Welcome to the UCSB Research Data Community!

We are a community of practice dedicated to supporting campus endeavors to advance open science and scientific reproducibility. Join us today!

We are an open group of data experts, faculty, and academic staff who joined forces in early 2021 to encourage discussions about open science, scientific reproducibility, data science instruction, and research data management. RDC aims to strengthen existing cross-departmental collaborations and build new partnerships between computation and data units across campus while increasing coordination and raising awareness about the data services, computational infrastructure, and training opportunities available at UCSB. We welcome and invite participation of all campus community members with an interest in discussing issues around research data on campus.

Our Core Values

Cooperative Integrity

We cherish open and respectful collaboration among our data experts and academic staff. Through nurturing an environment built on integrity, trust, and cooperation, we seek to push forward the principles and best practices for open science, reproducibility, and responsible research data management.

Continuous Learning & Adaptability

We recognize the ever-evolving landscape of data science and research and embrace a culture of continuous learning and innovation, by actively seeking opportunities to expand our knowledge, skills, and approaches. By staying adaptable and open to new ideas, we contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge practices and methodologies.

Community Empowerment

Our commitment lies in enabling our members to thrive by co-creating and offering resources capable of supporting researchers to navigate the complexities of data-intensive research.

We host virtual community calls on the third Tuesday of the month from 4-5 p.m. over Zoom.
