The LASS Facility performs laser-ablation split-stream (LASS) analysis, in which a single laser sample is split between multiple mass spectrometers to measure geochronology (age dating) and trace-element geochemistry simultaneously at 10 to 50 micron spatial resolution. Built around four ICP mass spectrometers and dual lasers, it is one of very few facilities in the world capable of this coupled, in-situ analysis.
