Established in 1977, the MSI Analytical Laboratory provides chemical analysis services to the UCSB research community. Its core services are dissolved inorganic nutrient analysis of seawater and other aqueous samples (including fresh, estuarine, ground, and neutralized-digest samples), elemental (CHN) analysis of solid materials, and stable-isotope analysis of N2O by isotope-ratio mass spectrometry, with sample preparation performed in house.
