While we recognize that each research project may have unique and specific requirements and challenges, we strongly encourage you to consider exploring templates, guides, and other instructional materials developed or recommended by the UCSB Library.

TEMPLATES

README

A README is a file that serves as a brief and informative document to help users, developers, and contributors understand your project's purpose, usage, and setup. It should provide essential information about your research project and files (including data, code, and supplementary materials). README files are typically written in plain text, Markdown, or another lightweight markup language, making them easy to read and maintain. We suggest you use one of the templates below and customize it to your project needs:

README Template - Markdown (.md)

README Template - Text File (.txt)
